Welcome to Japan Law Society (JLS). This is an organization of individuals interested in law in Japan. We have a monthly newsletter, and regular events, including social gatherings and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars via the Internet.

Mission

The JLS's goals are generally to improve the legal profession by educating attorneys, enabling attorneys to network, and encouraging the spread of the rule of law.  The JLS hopes that other countries may learn from Japan, Japan may learn from other countries, and together we will arrive at best practices for the legal industry.

Membership

Anyone with an interest in the law in Japan may join JLS, including individuals working in a law firm, teaching or studying law, acting as in-house counsel, or looking for law-related work or business in the area. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AN ATTORNEY TO PARTICIPATE.  Members of any nationality are very welcome.  JLS strives to be an international organization.  Consequently, we welcome and encourage Japanese individuals to participate.  Please see the Join page to sign up for the JLS.
